In honor of Ed Dodson
This year’s Board of Education Scholarship is being awarded in honor of longtime Chemeketa Board Member Ed Dodson, for his profound impact, personal commitment, and many years of dedicated service and devotion to our students and our community.
Ed Dodson’s career in education spans more than forty years, during which he has consistently championed the advancement of our local schools, the quality of our students’ education, and the betterment of our community.
Ed is frequently seen on campus, participating in employee workshops and development opportunities aimed at better serving and understanding the struggles of our student population. Ed has a true heart for continued education and is constantly seeking out ways to be a more effective leader and advocate.
For more than twenty years, Ed has generously contributed to the Chemeketa Foundation, supporting a diverse array of scholarships and causes. His rapid response to the Foundation’s call for aid during the Covid-19 pandemic exemplifies his steadfast commitment to alleviating housing and food insecurity among our most vulnerable students.
A pinnacle of his dedication was marked by his instrumental role in establishing the Chemeketa Board of Education Scholarship in 2014.
Recognizing the pivotal role that community colleges play in bridging the gap between high school and technical careers, Ed’s insights in this area have greatly contributed to societal well-being. His recent efforts to introduce cutting-edge applied baccalaureate programs at Chemeketa reflect his forward-thinking mindset. He has taken a proactive role in securing program support, enabling students to seamlessly transition into these new offerings, ultimately ensuring their future success.
