Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) State and International Scholarship and Grants for Women

The Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O), a non-profit organization, provides different scholarships and grant opportunities to women pursuing their educational goals. Please see below two of those awards:
1. STAR Scholarship
The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship (STAR) was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional women in their final year of high school to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The award amount is $2,500.

STAR continues to give stellar students an opportunity to continue their influence in their communities and the world, while giving each student a connection to a local chapter whose members are ready to encourage and support them as they embark on their college or university studies.

With interests as varied as the students themselves, recipients have majored in: arts and humanities; business; health and medicine; multi-/interdisciplinary studies; public and social services; science, math and technology; social sciences; and trades and personal services.

Application dates for this award: typically between August 15 through October 15— students must apply the summer/fall before they graduate.

2. Program for Continuing Education
The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE) was established in 1973 to provide need-based grants to women in the U.S. and Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to complete a degree or certification that will improve their marketable skills for employment to support themselves and/or their families. The maximum grant amount is $4,000.

Additional grants for returning and high-achieving women students are awarded by the Oregon State Chapter.

Submit an interest form on the webpage and you will be connected to one of the 14 local PEO chapters that will sponsor and assist you in applying for financial assistance. The deadlines to apply are listed on the website.
